We are excited to announce the open call for the 2025-2026 cycle of the NAAS Research & Curatorial Fellowship — a 9-10 month program supporting researchers, curators, and cultural practitioners from the Arabic-speaking region and its diasporas.

The fellowship invites research projects that critically engage with cinema, media, and visual culture, and translate the results into a public-facing outcome. We are especially interested in projects that rethink inherited narratives, surface marginal or overlooked materials, and explore new modes of cultural participation and curatorial experimentation.

The fellowship includes:

• A stipend
• Mentorship and peer feedback
• Monthly virtual seminars
• Two in-person colloquiums
• A chance to publish in Malaffat
• A Platform to present your interim and final outcomes

Who can apply?

Researchers, curators, programmers, cultural organizers, writers, and academics (individuals, duos, and collectives).

Timeline: November 2025 – July 2026
